Michelle is committed to working with individuals seeking solutions and change. Michelle works in a narrative style locating the problem in a wider social context seeking to expand horizons and enable people to see they have more choices than they may think. Michelle works with a wide range of issues including but not limited to gender and sexuality and is culturally competent when working with LGBTI people.
In addition to running a private practice Michelle lectures in Counselling at the Jansen Newman Institute, Torren's University. Previously as a senior lecturer at Massey University, Wellington, Michelle taught gender and sexuality for ten years before starting her own private practice as a researcher and counsellor. In 2011 Michelle moved to Sydney working as a Senior Policy and Project Officer for the LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Intersex) Health Alliance where she completed a
Cultural Competency Project designed to improve counselling and mental health services for sexuality and gender diverse communities in Australia.
